Australia Gears Up for the Biggest Music Event of the Year: The 54th Toyota Tamworth Country Festival with Over Seven Hundred Artists, Star-Studded Performances!

The highly anticipated 54th Toyota Tamworth Country Music Festival has officially kicked off, drawing visitors from all over Australia and beyond to the regional city of Tamworth. This iconic event, running for 10 days, is set to bring together more than 700 artists, including some of Australia’s most celebrated country music names. With hundreds of thousands of people expected to visit, the festival is already injecting an estimated $100 million into the local economy.

The Tamworth Country Music Festival is one of the largest and longest-running celebrations of country music in the Southern Hemisphere. This year’s festival is set to bring a mix of free and ticketed events featuring a variety of artists across different sub-genres of country music. The festival officially launched on January 16, 2026, with the Opening Concert at Toyota Park. The opening night featured a performance by 2025 Golden Guitar winners, including Zac & George, Ashleigh Dallas, and Felicity Kircher, among others.

The festival, coordinated by the Tamworth Regional Council, continues to grow in both stature and attendance, making it one of the most anticipated events in the Australian music calendar.

The 2025 edition of the festival boasts an impressive roster of over 700 artists, including Australian country music legends such as Lee Kernaghan OAM, John Williamson, Troy Cassar-Daley, Adam Harvey, Beccy Cole, Colin Buchanan, and many more. Some of the biggest names in country music will perform, while 400 buskers have also registered to take part in this year’s festivities.

The diversity of the line-up ensures that there is something for everyone, from iconic country singers to rising stars. The festival is particularly known for offering opportunities to young and emerging artists, many of whom started their careers busking at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Tamworth’s streets are already bustling with festival-goers, and the economic impact on the region is significant. The event is expected to generate over $100 million in revenue, benefiting local businesses, accommodation providers, and the wider tourism industry. Hundreds of camp spots have already been booked at Design RV Riverside Campgrounds, and accommodation across the region is filling up fast. Many visitors are also opting for Airbnb and homestays, adding to the city’s vibrant atmosphere.

The festival brings together not just fans of country music but also local businesses, vendors, and the wider community. The non-gated nature of the event makes it accessible to everyone, whether they are purchasing tickets for a show or simply enjoying the atmosphere in Tamworth’s Peel Street.

Throughout the 10-day festival, visitors can look forward to a range of exciting performances and events. One of the major highlights of the festival will be the Toyota Star Maker Grand Final, taking place on January 19, 2026, at Toyota Park. The competition is a long-running tradition in the country music scene and has launched the careers of many successful artists.

Other key events include the Golden Gig, sponsored by Macca’s, which will see Australia’s youngest stars competing for the coveted title. This competition kicks off on January 19, 2026, with the Grand Final scheduled for January 23. Lee Kernaghan, a staple of the Australian country music scene, will also perform at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre (TRECC) on January 22, while the ever-popular children’s group, The Wiggles, will take the stage on January 25.

Tamworth also welcomes back Orchestral Country, a performance that has grown in popularity and will be staged at TRECC on January 21. Away from music, AELEC will host the 2026 Xtreme Bulls & Xtreme Broncs Australia, showcasing thrilling rodeo action.

Max Jackson, the official Festival Ambassador, is returning for his third consecutive year. He is thrilled to be part of the celebration again, sharing his excitement about the festival’s continued success. Jackson’s upcoming performance on January 22, 2026, at the Longyard, will feature a busking competition, offering one lucky busker the opportunity to open his show. This year’s festival is set to provide a platform for both new and seasoned performers, making it an unforgettable experience for fans and artists alike.

Tamworth Regional Council and event organizers are prioritizing the safety and well-being of attendees. Festival-goers are encouraged to stay hydrated and take appropriate safety measures throughout the event. With such a large number of people expected, organizers have emphasized the importance of looking out for one another and having fun in a responsible and enjoyable environment.

Following the Golden Guitar Awards, on January 25, 2026, the Toyota Best of the Buskers competition will take place, showcasing some of the best buskers from around the country. The event is a celebration of the grassroots talent that the festival is known for nurturing.

The Tamworth Country Music Festival is a celebration of Australian country music and culture, bringing together fans, artists, and businesses for a 10-day extravaganza. As the event unfolds, thousands of visitors will flock to Tamworth to enjoy live performances, community spirit, and the infectious energy that makes this festival a must-see for country music lovers worldwide.

Tamworth remains at the heart of the Australian country music scene, and the festival is a testament to the enduring popularity of this genre and the rich musical heritage of Australia.
